For teachers
Assign curated practice across the middle school math curriculum, with a clear per-student view of mastery topic by topic.
Curriculum alignment
Practice problems and topics are organized to match the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics for grades 6, 7, and 8. The site covers:
- 6.RP, 7.RP: Ratios and Proportional Relationships — unit rates, proportions, percents.
- 6.NS, 7.NS: The Number System — fraction operations, integer operations, rational numbers.
- 6.EE, 7.EE, 8.EE: Expressions and Equations — simplifying expressions, one- and two-step equations, inequalities, linear functions.
- 6.G, 7.G, 8.G: Geometry — area, perimeter, surface area, angle relationships, transformations.
What you can do
- Per-topic mastery view. See which students are green / yellow / red on each topic in your scope and sequence.
- Targeted practice. Direct students to specific topics they need to revisit, and watch the mastery band update as they work.
- Show-the-work practice. Students solve problems with prompts available — never with answers handed to them. The site is designed to keep them in the productive struggle.
- No game mechanics. The platform doesn't compete with the lesson by gamifying engagement. It's a practice tool, like a workbook.
Classroom use
MyMathTutor is currently a small, family-scale project. If you teach middle school math and would like to evaluate it for classroom use, please contact us.
